Choosing The Color Scheme for Your Web Site Design
Posted in Web Design Content on 10/26/2008 12:48 am by sitebrandersIt all starts out with a blank sheet of paper, canvas or in this case a 1024×768 screen. You know what colors you like, but is it really a good idea to use the colors on your bedroom wallpaper, just because you think they compliment the curtains? The answer is yes! Your website really is a reflection of your character and what you see yourself as. Take for example a website with very dark colors and no images, what does this tell you at first glance? One, the designer is trying to get the point across that the website is dealing with alternative material, perhaps about personal matters or maybe even a forum discussing the next sci-fi movie.
Now, let’s jump to another website that has bright, vivid colors welcoming you to the site. I am not saying all websites have to be bright and cheery, but the colors you use do portray a sense of feel as soon as the site loads. Using dark colors is fine, but why not pair it up with a contrasting color to compliment the color scheme. Browns are very trendy right now. My favorite combination is brown and aqua blue. These colors just yell happiness to me. Pastel colors I recommend for bridal, baby showers, pre-schools style websites. Darker colors complimented with light colors are great for business. No matter what color scheme you decide on, just make sure the text on the screen is easy to read and does not cause you to back away. Here is a great color scheme picker that is free to use to help make your choice a bit easier.
